Ian BLATCHFORD
Science Museum Group (UK)
Appointed Director and Chief Executive of the Science Museum Group in November 2010 overseeing the Science Museum (London), National Railway Museum (York), National Science and Media Museum (Bradford) and the Museum of Science and Industry (Manchester). In December 2010, he also assumed the role of Director of the Science Museum. He was previously the Deputy Director of the Victoria & Albert Museum from December 2004, having joined the Museum in 2002 as Director of Finance & Resources.
Blatchford studied law at the Mansfield College, Oxford and holds an MA in Renaissance Studies from the Birkbeck College, University of London. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. He is Chairman of the Governors of De Montfort University and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London. He was awarded the Pushkin Medal in 2015. In April 2017 he became Chairman of the National Museum Directors’ Council.
