Appointed Deputy Director of the National Art Museum of China since February 2014. She studied in the Department of Art History at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing from 1984-88 and started working for the Ministry of Culture, first in the Fine Art Division of the Department of Arts in July 1988, and then served as Director of the Department’s Literature and Fine Arts Division from 2005-14.
An has been devoted to the construction and management of art museums and academies and has participated in organising a number of major national level fine arts exhibitions. She has particularly played an active and professional role in organising a number of important events, including the National Project of Artworks on Major Historical Themes, the National Exhibition of Fine Arts, the first China Design Exhibition, the first through the third Chinese Poetry Festival, the National Arts Collection and Donation Reward Programme, as well as the free admission to fine arts museums. She has published articles on contemporary fine arts creation in various newspapers and magazines.
