Guangdong Museum (China)
Currently the Director of Guangdong Museum. He studied at and received his Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees successively from the School of Archaeology and Museology, Peking University from 1991-2002.
Prior to his current position, Wei has served as Director of the Underwater Archaeology Center of the Guangdong Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and Deputy Director of Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics. He is now President of the Guangdong Provincial Museums Association. For many years, he has worked in the fields of archaeology, conservation of cultural heritage, and museum management and study, and has curated many exhibitions, including the exhibition Sailing the Seven Seas: Legend of the Maritime Trade during the Wanli Era. He is author and chief editor of over 20 books, and has published over 40 academic papers.
